The Impact of Data
With certainty we can predict that the environment involving the delivery and management of emergency medicine will continue to grow more complex and challenging. Volumes of data available relative to length of stay, patient flow, utilization, mix, patient origin, collection rates, frequency of diagnoses, core measures, etc., all create opportunities to learn more about the various factors influencing emergency medicine. Furthermore, this information allows us to address the challenge to continue to effectively manage the cost of delivery of emergency medicine while maintaining high quality. These factors require high technical acumen, patient sensitivity, and confident medical leadership. A future with The Schumacher Group brings these resources to our clients' decision making processes.
Embracing Technology
As the costs of providing health care continue to increase across the nation, The Schumacher Group diligently examines our systems and processes for opportunities to drive a change dynamic toward efficiencies through technology. Because TSG impacts over 2 million ED patients per year, we have an opportunity to make a substantial impact on patient care. By capturing ways to get more information at our fingertips, enhance relationships with our customers by spending more time interfacing, and essentially doing more for less, we are able to deliver a higher level of service. Our goal is to embrace the technologies that can help us do our job better. The Schumacher Group is an industry advocate for this change dynamic and has made remarkable and rewarding investments in information systems
Industry Advocacy
The Schumacher Group has been actively involved on many fronts in efforts that would positively impact our patients, physicians, partners and the industry at large. We monitor and influence at both the state and federal levels legislative and regulatory changes that affect all aspects of our industry - from patient safety and disaster response to reimbursement and professional liability. In fact, The Schumacher Group enrolled more physicians in the CMS Physician Voluntary Reporting Program (PVRP), the precursor for Medicare's Pay For Performance (P4P), than any other organization in the country.
Our employees are members of various committees within American College of Emergency Physicians and Emergency Department Practice Management Association. As the third largest provider of physicians and administrative services to hospital emergency departments, we track the issues that affect the delivery of care at emergency departments throughout the nation by way of our yearly Emergency Department Administration Survey. The Schumacher Group is committed to our role as advocate in the health care arena.
Synergistic Patient Care: Hospitalist Services
The Schumacher Group is firmly committed to seeking ways to enhance quality of care for patients in our contracted emergency departments. Through this pioneering approach, we have realized opportunities to bring additional services to our clients, resulting in a synergistic continuum of care for the patients and increased efficiencies in both the emergency and inpatient settings. When hospitalist services are a necessity, a relationship with The Schumacher Group is mutually beneficial for both the ED team and the Hospitalist team through a cooperative, supportive approach. Through this synergy in Emergency and Inpatient Medicine, TSG is positioned to provide the best of both worlds, so that the combined outcome is greater than the sum of their individual effects.
